QI Philippines had been invited by Pasay City Environment and Natural Resources Office (PCENRO) to participate in the 34th International Coastal Clean-Up Day, with the theme ‘Fighting for Trash-Free Seas’. It happened last Saturday, 21 September 2019 at 5:30 AM. It was a rainy morning but the weather didn’t stop a lot of organisations to join the activity to help Mother Nature. Our company has been participating in this activity for four (4) years now and this is our 5th year.
As part of our 21st anniversary celebration in the network marketing industry, the CSR committee invited the network to strengthen our commitment for a greener environment, and our relationships as one company. There were 16 employees and five Independent Representatives who were present during the activity. The recorded litter by the team were 50kgs. of logs, shoes, slippers, plastics, and cigarette butts.
According to the 2018 ICC report by Ocean Conservancy, 1,080,358 volunteers from 122 countries, participated in the clean-up wherein 10,584,041 kilograms of trash were collected and segregated in 35,890.3 kilometers of beaches/shorelines and inland waterways cleaned. The Philippines landed on the top list of participating countries with 276,120 clean-up volunteers – a manifestation of the Philippines’ enduring commitment and support for trash-free seas.
